As fans shuffled into the stands on Friday, Oct. 18th, the Brahmas were waiting in the wings to pull off an unstoppable performance against the La Grange Leopards. Ultimately, the football game ended in a magnificent win for the Brahmas (63-20), placing them one step close to playoffs.
With a cool, autumn breeze, the Brahmas kicked off the game at 7:30 pm. Soon after, the Leopards were able to rush towards the 20 yard line, but fumbled. Soon, Cayden Becerra secured the ball for a Bellville first down. The Brahmas made several advances with a major push by DD Murray before Izak Hranicky secured the first touchdown of the game. Raul Alvarado’s field goal was successful, positioning the Brahmas for an early lead.
Then, DD Murray scored the second touchdown of the game, a 16-yard rush to the end zone. He ran a total of 192-yards during the game and scored four touchdowns with only 15 carries.
Overall, Kendrick Turner and Grady Hesters both contributed a whopping 18 points to the final score. Turner scored two touchdowns against La Grange and rushed a total of 105-yards on Friday. He scored three touchdowns and rushed 371-yards in the entire season, so far.
Hesters is in his final year at Bellville High School and scored two touchdowns this year, one during the game against La Grange. He rushed 71-yards on Friday but has a season total of 102-yards.
In the second quarter, the Leopards put on a great effort with runs and passes by Clayton Cooper, Dillan Johnson, among others. La Grange scored three total touchdowns, but their extra point attempt after the second touchdown was blocked by Bellville’s one and only, DJ Sanders. Sanders is committed to Division I school Texas A&M for the 2025 season.
In the end, the Brahmas left the field on top, a 63-20 win and 573-yards under their belt for the entire game. Currently, they are first and undefeated in the district. They will play in Giddings on Oct. 26th at 7:30pm against the Buffaloes.
